Description

Six thousand years ago. Evil stalks the land. Only twelve-year-old Torak and his wolf-cub companion can defeat it. Their journey together takes them through deep forests, across giant glaciers, and into dangers they never imagined.

In this original and spectacularly told adventure story, Torak and Wolf are joined by an incredible cast of characters as they battle to save their world, in this first book in The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness.

Reviews

AudioFile Magazine...
Sent on a preordained prophesy he needs to fulfill, Torak, a 12-year-old just-orphaned boy, finds himself alone in the world with only Wolf, a recently orphaned cub, to guide him. Ian McKellen enchants the listener with an eclectic narration that brings alive the story's action at every turn. The ancient spiritual world and its brethren clan meet to tell the tale of a mystic's experiment gone bad. Although the plot focuses on a formulaic quest, McKellen's storytelling voice evokes a magical world and makes the predictable plot charming. This is the first in the series The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness. It's easy to see that it will be a must-listen series for fans of the world of numina. D.L.M. (c) AudioFile 2005, Portland, Maine
